Default Suggestion - Learn to listen.

Yup, eaxactly what the title says. I believe that people should learn to read the text displayed in front of them, not ignore it, act, then realise what it said without thinking about your actions. This isn't a suggestion to improve the game as such, but to improve the flow of gameplay witin Guild Wars. I have a couple of tales I wish to share about the importance of learning to read and listening to what fellow teammates have to say.

Example 1. Me and my friend (who shall not be named) were in Augury Rock. We both hadn't been to a place called Hero's Auidence, we formed a party and decided that if anyone else wanted to make the trip to Hero's Auidence they were welcome to do so. So I stood there shouting '4 more to travel to Hero's Auidence'. Pretty soon we had a full party and we about to travel to our destination. We left through the portal and lone behold someone says 'Wait this isn't the way to Thirsty River.' I thought to myself, okay what an idiot we are going to Hero's Auidence so he joins us to get to Thirsty River. Makes sense. So unfortunately we go back. I then shout '1 more needed to travel to Hero's Auidence.' I then get messaged 'where do I get that quest from?' *sigh*

Example 2. In Ascolon I was meeting up with some friends and as soon as I entered the district my chat got flooded with WTS and WTB, normally this isn't a problem but when this is the 'All' section I got a bit cheesed off. I messaged a good 15 people doing this with the message 'There is a trade chat you know use it.' Now perhaps I wasn't being the nicest person but it does get annoying when people can't understand basic english.

Example 3. My complaint about the annoyance of people being idiotic in general was again in Ascolon. Being from Europe, we have different servers for diferent languages. Last thing I need is someone advertising their German guild in the German language on a English server. Honestly and when I tell this guy that he's spamming he carries on assuming he doesn't understand the English languauge.

Post comments as you will. As I said this isn't a game improvement but a player improvement. Of course there will be people who can't understand the concept of reading or listening. If anyone has any other tales they wish to share post them here.

Unfortunately, things like this wil continue to happen. The people that need to read this most likely will not do so. Maybe some and hopefully they realize what they're doing and change it. For the most part this is something that will always be there and all we can do is inform these people in-game or just deal with it.

In all fairness not everyone will know that Heroes' Audience is a minor town, namely those who are playing through with their first character and don't check out maps & forums.

But yeah, examples 1 & 2 are annoying. I'm on the US world so I don't get that language problem :P

With people talking about quests like Hero's Journey and Hero's Challenge, I can see how someone playing for the first time could get confused thinking Hero's Audience is a quest. However, that guy who joined for Thirsty River has no excuse and should havew been paying attention.

I've seen lots of people insist they need a quest to go to minor towns/missions. As if the location won't be there unless a piddly 500 exp reward is offered first. I'll sit in a group that's going to an out of the way minor town and people in the group will complain they don't have the quest. No matter how many times I say "you don't need a quest, you can just go there" to the *same* people, they keep complaining about a missing quest. I just want to be less than diplomatic about saying STFU in these situations.

I can't tell you how many times I've had to explain Signet of Capture as my first ascended character (within a few weeks of release, so still pretty new game). I don't mean to different groups, to the *same* people in my group. Once, while going through Dragon's Lair, three people were trying to get the stance from Facet of Strength. I tell them it's a stance and they just have to spam SoC because they won't see it in the skill monitor. The first warrior gets it. The super whiny second warrior who thought he was the leader and knew what he was doing complains the dragon is not using the skill so he can't capture it. Yet again, I explain its a stance and you have to spam SoC. The third player, a N/W, *still* doesn't have the skill at this point. Yes, this was the same fight.

Last night, someone was shouting, asking for the location of Priestess Ranesha (sp?) to complete the Troubling Artifact quest. I reply back that she is in Serenity Temple. The noob wants directions, so I tell him to read his quest log. I happen to know exactly what the quest log says because I was on my way to do the quest myself. It specifically says to "follow the road south from Frontier Gate" (we were standing in Frontier Gate and only *one* road goes in a southern direction). Really, how much more do you need spelled out? Once you zone after following the road, you get an arrow indicating where to go.

My hate of WTS in the all chat is well advertised. It's even more annoying when you get the, "STUF, can't tel me how ta ply U n00b!"

I also have had problems with people not knowing what a group is doing. I rarely join groups for questing because everyone's doing their own thing, it's eaiser just to grab henchmen. The missions are setup better, but you can still have problems. Like when a group agrees not to bother with the secondary because it's gotten everyone killed 5 times, and then the warrior who's replacing our drop runs off and aggros all those nice monsters who we don't actually need to fight, leading them back to us.

I took my lvl 8 necro into the Ruins of Surmia mission with 3 others. We got a monk so that was cool. I can heal myself but didn't bring any rez and neither did anyone else. Well, our tank dies and it took about 5 minutes to get out of the monk that he didn't bring rez either. So the other 2 die soon and I'm left with the mission by myself. I told them to stay with me until the cutscene with Erol and they would be rezzed. Two of them left.

Well it was just me and a lvl 6 warrior, with DP. So we go a little bit up the hill past the cutscene and guess what. Lvl 6 dies again, lol. So I ended up finishing the whole mission, bonus and all, solo.

Moral of the story: Droppers are idiots.

Wow. I'm so glad that i finally found some OTHER people that hate noobs but arn't noobs themselves. I see it too many times, the supposed leader of the group (usually a warrior..*cough*), Tell everybody to "Follow Me!, I know where to go!". Long story short, 10 minutes later we all have 60dp, and the leader left the party.
Wtf is with people pretending to be smart. Does it make the feel good about themselves or something? I guess the world will never truly understand the "Noob Symdrome."

You aren't alone in your annoyance... aren't alone by a long shot.

There are thousands of us that hate the way things have gotten... And it is a problem of others being incredibly stupid... They don't have patience, that's the thing... and so, they don't read things all the way, and don't like to do things in a conventional way (using the trade channel for trading *i know, i know... it's hard to click on that tab and use it...*)... i was wondering if the trading was like this on other area's (The euro/china servers... )?

Thank you! Thank you! There are smart regular average non-noob joes out there! Nice storys btw. I need a good laugh.

About 10 minutes ago I was in ascolon district 3 europe, you might of heard me shouting 'NOOBS USE THE TRADE CHAT THAT'S WHAT IT IS FOR!' Anyhows, I get spammed with hundreds of thousands (slight exaggeration) of noobs saying 'Join the best guild in GW!! We are so cool, and a CAPE OMFG!' I can do without it to be honest. If people want to join a guild it should be of their own will not because some spammer gave them no other choice. And btw, almost every guild has a cape so having a cape doesn't make your guild the best. To be the best you need: teamwork, detirmintion, strategy, courage, confidence, experience and a whole lot of battles under your belt. Any noob who witnessed my psycho rant in Ascolon district 3 Europe, I hope your reading this (most unlikely however). You have been warned.

For all those non-noobs reading this I'm glad I got that off my chest. Keep your funny tales of noobiness coming, I need a good laugh from time to time. Happy Posting.

Peace out.

Learn to listen:

I was in Iron mines of moladune with a guild mate. I start asking if someone will join our party for Hero's challenge. Quickly we had a full party, i was not sure all haved understand where we was going i'ved say another time "we go for Hero's challenge not the mission". Before going out i'ved do another precisation "we are going to Copperhammer Mines" ... ok they all know where we are going, so after the usual "rdy?" i go out ... one immediatly say "wtf where are you going?" and left ... in 5 seconds other four left too.
Great, luckly i haved been paranoiac and said many times where we was going so one doesn't left.

Of course, private messaging every person who is speaking WTS out of place is kinda pointless, and antagonistic, and uttery retarded.

People are people. You cannot just expect the entire human population of this game to suddenly begin reading and comprehending your text. Many people in the game I see that are having a shit fit about off-channel talking cannot spell what they are trying to SHOUT IN ALL CAPS about in the first place.

I simply turn off all chat lines except for guild. That way, none of this even comes near me.

I love it when there is one party already formed in a town usually full or no party at all. and i have seen a group of 10 people(in an area for parties of 6) just keep post LFG for misson(or the same quest) and they keep doing it and none of them thinks hey why don't i just grab these other people.

People are too lazy they want others to send them the invite vs actually selecting the player saying x more for what ever. And my favorite is when they im you telling you since you can't see them in the room just type thier name in to send the request. I'm like you could do the same thing and already have been in this group.

Default Never bothered to listen...

I was in Bergen Hot Springs with my lvl 11 E/Me and I saw a group advertising to go to Temple of the Ages. I invite myself in and they accept me. In team chat the "leader" says we need a monk (5/6 in group and no healer yet), so I say, "I'll ask someone in my guild to help out." He says okay. Its all good until for some stupid reason he invites some random person. I told him (for the 4th time in a minute) that I had a healer coming (and he was already standing by me saying my group was full already). So someone says, "well, who do we kick?" Next thing I know, I'm out of the party and they start inviting my guildmate in. WTF!? My guild-mate then goes off on them for kicking me and tells them he doesn't go without me and then left. All I got to say to them is F-U. I got there with henchies and no DP in no more than 20 minutes.

I love it when that happens You really know the leader must have the intellect of a rock. Although I'm happy if I get a chance to realize this while still in town, at least I can find a more competent group (= henchies) then.

funny thing happened earlier today. I saw a dude shouting in Lions Arch 'buying black dye 1k.' I said to him look dude why would people sell you black dye for 1k when they can sell to the dye trader for 3k? He simply blanks me and carries on making a fool of himself.

Just to comment on the what the OP has said, you can spend all the time in the world and stupidity will still not be fixed. As an IT professional, I can tell you with out a bdoubt I spend more time fixing people than computers.

What he said ^^

And about the OP, you might want to rethink the person wanting to go to the Thirsty River. He could perhaps have thought hero's audience was the minor town before reaching Thirsty River, instead of the gorge, and getting them mixed up he messed up...and ruined seconds of your invaluable life...

The guy who thought it was a quest...why call him stupid? If I were just reaching the crystal desert for the first time, I'd be asking where you get ANY quests because there's so few of them in the desert.

For the German guild...did you ever think that perhaps the person was looking for bilingual people to join his guild, posting german on an english server would mean the reader would either be a lost german in an english world, or someone would know both enlgish and german, which might be a prerequisite to join the guild, you never know...

Well the world is full of n00b what can you do. I am a war and sometime I get up to 60dp and yet I dont quit. some ppl will quit simply coes we all die except 1 persone, I just stick to see what apend, some time it goes good and other time not.

As for real noob, was doing rune of surmia( think thats the name) an we where going to do the bonus. We see the 4 char amber carrier and I clearly tell them not to attack them. I even show them on are map with a pin. Our lvl 17 war goes and attack them, of course we fail the bonus...and then the warrior tells me that the pin was the signal to attack, he also quit, so we where 3 ele/mo and we completed the misson. that my worse expirience with n00bs.
